A platform of unmet possibilities
AmphiNova® is our proprietary platform of next-generation biosurfactants. Built by combining cutting edge synthetic biology and bioprocessing approaches, it represents a diverse library of more than 100 multifunctional biosurfactant molecules, each engineered for specific performance and sustainability requirements.
By combining synbio approaches with molecular design and modelling, AmphiNova® enables the development and optimisation of new biosurfactant structures and functionalities while maintaining a fully upcycled, circular production approach using bio-based waste- and side streams.
How AmphiNova® works
AmphiNova® integrates strain development and mining, fermentation, biomass pretreatment and downstream processing into one platform.
Microorganisms convert bio-based waste and side streams into biosurfactant molecules through a controlled fermentation process. By tuning both the strain design and the process conditions, AmphiStar can adjust the molecular structure and functional properties of each biosurfactant to meet specific application requirements.
This enables the development of ingredients with targeted performance, including:
- Foaming
- Emulsification
- Mildness for skin and hair
- Cleaning efficiency
The result is a scalable and flexible approach to producing biosurfactants with tailored performance profiles for specific formulation needs.

AmphiNova® provides access to a broad and growing portfolio of biosurfactants available for further development and commercialisation.
With more than 100 molecules already developed, the platform supports applications across personal care, home care, industrial markets and all markets using biosurfactants. This diversity allows formulators to select or develop ingredients that meet precise performance requirements without compromising sustainability.
COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS
AmphiCare®
Biosurfactants developed for personal care formulations, designed to provide mildness and performance in products such as make-up remover, body lotion, hand and body wash and intimate hygiene products.
AmphiClean®
Biosurfactants designed for home care and cleaning applications, delivering effective cleaning performance in detergents and household formulations.
Additional AmphiNova®-derived biosurfactants are currently in development, with selected molecules planned for direct market launch from 2026 onwards. Stay tuned!
